Add a signature to a PDF
Draw your name, click the page, stamp it — and the signed contract is ready to send back. compress cat lets you sign with a mouse or finger, or upload a signature image, then position and size it on a live page preview before it lands. One thing to be clear about: this is a visual signature — it lays your signature image onto the PDF for everyday sign-and-return. It carries no digital certificate or CA timestamp, so it is not a legally binding e-signature. Everything runs locally in your browser; the contract is never uploaded.

Why use compress cat's Sign PDF?
- Draw or upload, your call: scribble one with a mouse or finger, or reuse a saved signature PNG (a transparent background looks cleanest).
- Aim before you stamp: place and resize on the actual page preview, so you know exactly where the signature lands instead of guessing it onto the right line.
- The contract stays on your machine: signature and PDF never leave your device — which matters more than speed when the document is sensitive.
Frequently asked questions
No. compress cat produces a visual signature — your signature image overlaid on the PDF, fine for everyday sign-and-return. It has no digital certificate or CA timestamp, so it isn’t the same as a cryptographic digital signature. For legally binding signing, use a dedicated e-signature service.
A PNG with a transparent background is cleanest — only the ink shows, with no white rectangle covering the text underneath. No file on hand? Just draw one in the pad instead.
